Education in Zion is a learning center with a multimedia exhibition in the Joseph F. Smith Building at Brigham Young University, Utah, USA. The goal in creating the center was to present the stories of educational pioneers — those who initiated and those who now carry on universities tradition of faith and learning. The gallery and permanent exhibition documents the history and heritage of education in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Prophet Joseph Smith to the current Church Educational System.〔http://lib.byu.edu/sites/educationinzion/about/〕 Education in Zion includes stories, film, artwork, photographs, and letters. It illustrates the church's idea that learning is for the whole soul, the spirit as well as the intellect. The stories in the gallery bear witness to the sacrifice and the innovation that characterize the Church’s efforts to educate its members from its earliest days to the present. ==History of Education in Zion== Education in Zion is the product of eight years of planning, construction and research. The Joseph F. Smith Building was designed with the exhibition in mind, thus providing the gallery space. The gallery is home to the only unsupported spiral staircase on BYU's campus.〔http://lib.byu.edu/sites/educationinzion/about/history/〕 Development of Education in Zion began in 2000 under the direction of Dr. C. Terry Warner, now Professor Emeritus of Philosophy. Over the process of several years, Dr. Warner led a large team of BYU students and recent graduates in developing, researching, designing and installing the gallery spaces and permanent exhibition. They compiled stories of individuals who founded Brigham Young University and the educational system in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Researchers collected the primary and secondary materials used primarily from the archives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and from Perry Special Collections at the Harold B. Lee Library. Other sources were the archives of the University of Utah, Utah State Historical Society, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Education in Zion opened in fall 2008 and is under the direction of the Harold B. Lee Library. The current curator is Heather Seferovich. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Education in Zion Gallery」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
